- Prior to founding Nexus, Philip was the Head of Tax & Partner at KPMG East Africa with oversight mandate of KPMG's tax offering across 13 countries in the East Africa region.

- During his years of practice as a partner at KPMG, he successfuly grew the business in terms of profitability, quality of clients, developing staff & expanding the range of tax services offered by the practice.

- While at KPMG, Philip was the project director behind the successful Kenya Top 100 survey which he also rolled out in Tanzania, Uganda, & Rwanda.

- Phillip has over 15 years’ experience in tax advisory, commercial strategy and structuring, right from advising businesses and investors on power purchase agreements and production sharing agreements, to setting up operations across East Africa for tax efficient and commercialy viable resource exploitation.

- He has particular expertise and bias in supporting clients across a wide range of sectors including; Energy and Natural Resources, ICT, Agriculture and Agro-processing, Real Estate, Construction, Business Process Outsourcing, Financial Services and Public Sector.

- Phillip has extensive experience in due dilligence reviews and advisory, cross border transactions, employee compensation restructuring and tax optimization reviews and transfer pricing modelling formulation and management.

- He has experience in reviewing client operations and identifying regulatory changes required to enable entities to compete at international markets, conducting comparative analysis of the regulatory framework in East Africa and formulating best practices to be adopted.

- He has bulit an enviable reputation by representing clients in high profile meetings with regulators including: Revenue Authorities, National Treasury, Tax Local Committees, VAT Tribunal and Customs & Excise Tribunal.

-He has assisted numerous clients in resolving disputes with Revenue Authorities in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda; as well as lobbying for specific tax & legal position in East Africa.

- One of Philip’s great passions revolves around training – He has made his calling in life to be the art of transferring the skills and knowledge he has acquired to those seeking to learn, and for him to learn from those willing to teach.

It is in pursuit of this passion that Philip;

- Has over the last decade spearheaded tax trainings in East Africa. He has conducted numerous training sessions for taxpayers; both the general trainings and the specialized in-house trainings.

- Has been a guest lecturer at Strathmore Business School on several occasions and a guest speaker at the Strathmore University, speaking to undergraduates about life and career choices.

- Has engaged with the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade with regards to the VAT Act, 2013.

- Has over the last decade engaged Treasury in discussions on tax matters aimed at bringing to the front the international best practices that Kenya can adopt to make its tax laws more efficient.

- Has been a member of the ICPAK Public Finance Committee.

- Noreen is a lawyer by profession and a Certified Accountant by training. She has over 10 years post qualification experience in tax having worked as a Senior Manager in KPMG (Kenya and Rwanda) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (Kenya).

- Noreen has developed tremendous experience in indirect tax, business planning, dispute resolution and management, training, lobby and creating specialized tax structures.

- Her clients spanned at the whole economic spectrum; Agricultural, Oil & Gas, ENR, FMCG, Financial Services and Consumer Industrial Markets.

- Her expertise include transfer pricing planning and documentation, FIN 48 reviews, advisory services in mergers, acquisitons and reorganizations, investor tax advisory and due dilligence reviews, computation of corporate and business tax liabilities, VAT reviews, direct and indirect tax management.

- Noreen is also passionate about training. She has been involved side by side with Philip in offering general and specialized in-house tax training. Further, Noreen has lectured Advanced Tax, a course in ACCA, at Oshwal College.

- She has also been involved in lobbying the Treasury for changes in tax legislation and in representing clients in tax appeal processes.
